Fall is a Great Time for a Trail Ride
Truth be told, I am not much of a show person myself. Oh sure, it is fun to watch my daughter show, because she loves it so much. But me, I don’t have the nerves or patience at this time in my life. I prefer to just take one of the show horses out on the trail where we can both relax and have a great time.
As a matter of fact, only 10% of Arabian horse owners actually show their horse. Most calls to The Arabian Network Newsletter are for just a nice Arabian trail horse. Arabians are only too willing to oblige and as owners know, excel at trail as well as the Competitive Trail and Endurance Rides. Arabians dominate these two sports. Even spectators can have an enjoyable day watching the competitions.
While compiling information on the various trail rides for the newsletter, it is easy to transport oneself to these rides, which are held all over the country. Some of us horse owners, having invested in feed, shoes, and such, find the budget doesn’t allow for much traveling. But take a look at the names of some of the rides and take an armchair trip out on the trail:
There’s the Lincoln Trail Ride - Marinville, IL, the Posse Ride - Clearwater Junction, MT, Texas Shootout - Cold Spring, TX, Outlaw Trail - Teasdale, UT, Spirit Mt. - Duluth, MN, Lassen Challenge -Redding, CA, Grand Canyon - Prescott, AZ, Armadillo - Kennard, TX, Witch Dance - Houston, MS, Bell Cow Boogie - Chandler, OK, and The Death Valley Encounter - Ridgecrest, CA.
So whether you ride for fun, the competition, or both, enjoy your Arabian no matter whether cantering in Washington or Florida and everywhere in between.
